WE CAN
TAKE BACK THE NIGHT
A little about me. Hi! I’m Colleen.
Thank you for wanting to join this community of mine.
This has been in the works for some time. I use to be an avid outdoor runner and that all stopped about 15 years ago when I heard about a young woman, around my age at the time, that was murdered on her run. That shock made running outside no longer enjoyable for me and fear took hold.
Fast forward to the most recent incident in Tennessee and I knew I needed to get this going.
These women did nothing wrong.
All they wanted to do was go for their run.
So I decided to sit down, get my ideas on paper and go for it. Through that I’ve Got You Babe was made.
The name “I’ve Got You Babe” came about because I wanted people to know I’ve got them. It also came from Cher’s famous song “I Got You Babe” because I was thinking about strong woman figures and there she was…singing away.
Let’s Take Back the Night through community support and involvement.
Our Goals
BALANCE
Removing the fear and finding balance. The strongest of shapes, the Triangle. Brining people together to support and cheer for. Remembering to honor yourself and know you don’t have to be afraid when you have people standing with you.
COMMUNITY
Without it we can feel alone and vulnerable. Surrounded by people with the same goal of making it home after a walk or a run.
TRUST
Nothing is more important when growing a community of individuals that want to feel safe. Trusting others and trusting yourself.
